This mountain can be seen from my friend's patio. One morning, before the rest were awake, I sat and watched with my back to the sunrise. The closest ridge caught fire. Molten gold. And the background became cold and the clouds turned to frozen flame.

When I got the photos home, I made this painting and found the blue mountain was packed with ancient spirits. The sleeping princess was the first one I saw. Then there was a crush of beings.
