Lady Pillars
Created 2009
This is in our little town of Lauzun, believe it or not. It is the only building like it. But we are not tourists here so I won't tell you of its history. There is still much to ponder.
All is quiet. We see one balcony, three windows, and four statue pillars. One window has its shutters closed. One statue has a red band above its head and a board against its knees. There are two different statues, each cast twice. The first and third are the same and the second and fourth are the same, however, the head, shoulders, and breasts are all the same. All four have lost their arms, which is tragic, but I suggest that they never had any. They would have broken them all exactly the same, and that cannot be. And so I wonder at the sculptor that bothers to have a variance in hips and legs and yet there is no consideration at all to have any arms.
