EARLY WORK painting
TIMELESS PARIS photography
I became a painter at the same time as a photographer. In the beginning, it was a way to capture images that would aid in defining what I wanted to paint; to tell how light shapes things and tells the viewer of what the object is made, time of day, temperature of the air. My camera was the workhorse that brought me content which the painting draped with ambiance.
At times I would have two cameras hanging from my neck for black & white or color. I had my own black & white darkroom and prints were everywhere. The color turned into slides, rarely to be seen.
But, with the computer and my darling PhotoShop, painting and photography merge and a dream forms...so useful when the mind needs a nudge to see what is not seen in reality. Visualize.
And then paint it. It becomes something other than a painting; other than a photograph. My images are all digital now. The transparencies have been reborn in digital form and you can make them into prints.
Wander around and see what I've been doing.
