This all started when I discovered the work of a fifteenth century Venetian painter, Vittore Carpaccio. In the background of one of his paintings, there were men with spears in long boats. Were they fishing? Were the fish corralled and were these fenced areas sporting the family crest of the owners? I was intrigued and so made my own version of this area, exaggerating the fencing, importing birds here and there, and playing with
the lighting.
